Alesha Mercado (1972, Mexico City), is a Mexican Art Historian, Museologist and Curator with more than 15 years of experience in the museum field. She has worked as Adjunct Curator of the collection at Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo, MUAC, as Deputy Director at the National Museum of Arts, MUNAL, as Head of Communication at the Coordinación de Difusión Cultural of the National Autonomous University, UNAM and as Director of the International Program at The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, LACMA. She has also done group and individual exhibitions in Mexico and abroad and has worked as a consultant for projects such as La Pintura Mural Prehispánica and Descarga Cultura UNAM. In 2021, organized in partnership with the Mexican Embassy, Mercado curated the exhibition "Codices of Mexico: The Old Books of the New World" at CerModern in Ankara, which presents a selection of 16 facsimiles of the codices protected by different international museums and national libraries around the world and made on different materials: amate paper, leather from deer and European paper. On this occasion, Mercado revisited SAHA Studio whilst her time in Turkey.
