Manifold | The Six Elements of the Air

Launched by SAHA in 2019 to support independent art writers, the SAHA Art Writingcontinues this year in collaboration with Manifold, an online publication that focuses on design, technology, art, and everyday life. Having begun its first term with Evrim Altuğ’s monthly articles and reviews reporting on the agenda of the art world, the series was undertaken by Kültigin Kağan Akbulut in 2020, who has contributed or commissioned texts as an editor that brought forward current issues of the artistic field in Turkey. In 2021, Murat Alat who was the resident writer and programmer of SAHA Studio, penned texts on artworks that investigate the potentials of the matter, among the projects supported by SAHA in the previous ten years. In 2022 and 2023, the series was continued by the artist-centered initiative m-est.org.

Supported by the SAHA Sustainability Fund, Manifold plans to publish a series of articles focusing on the relationship between art and ecology/climate, edited and led by Hasan Cem Çal and Furkan Keçeli, for the SAHA Art Writing within the framework of SAHA's collaboration with the World Weather Network. The series of texts, in which different arts and art-making practices from photography to cinema, digital art to performance art, music to contemporary art will be associated with the six elements of weather (temperature, precipitation, humidity, wind, cloud cover, atmospheric pressure), will be accompanied by two workshops and a collective video production.
