Mert Acar (b. 1989, Ankara) is an artist and academic working with photography, video, and installation practices. In his works, he examines transitional landscapes situated at the intersection of nature and built environment within the context of concepts such as memory, transformation, temporality, and placelessness. Objects, industrial structures, and architectural forms encountered in these places serve as a determining factor in both conceptual and structural aspects of his works.
Mert Acar received his BFA from Hacettepe University Department of Graphics (2012) and completed his MFA (2017) and DFA (2023) at Gazi University Department of Painting. His works have been exhibited at various venues such as Mamut Art Project, Akbank Sanat, Cermodern, Subjectively Objective, Art Elsewhere, Torun, Galata Rum Okulu and Photo London, and have been included in private collections. His recent exhibitions include his solo show “A Fading Distance” at Vision Art Platform (İstanbul, 2024) and “Olimpos Sergileri 3: Enteriyör” (İstanbul, 2024).
