Nejbir Erkol (b. 1995, Nusaybin/Mardin) completed her undergraduate degree at Mardin Artuklu University, Department of Painting and her master's degree at Hacettepe University, Institute of Fine Arts, Department of Painting. Working on the concept of precaria, Erkol's artistic practice includes video, installation, painting and performance. With the influence of the geography she lives in, she deals with the concepts of fragility, vulnerability, pain and trauma by associating them with her own body. While dealing with these concepts, she pays attention to the fact that the materials she uses are as precarious as the concepts she deals with. In addition to exhibitions, Erkol took part in research programs such as The Istanbul Biennial Production and Research Programme / ÇAP (2019-2020), Arter Research Program (2020-2021), Temporary Dialects; Bridges Through My Window 2021 (Germany). Erkol has recently participated in the 5th Mardin Biennial “The Promise of Grass”, Festival SACRe Paris (2023) and was one of the recipients of the Prince Claus Seed Award 2023.
